Macomb County CARES for Small Businesses - Grant Opportunities

Below are a list of grant opportunities available to Macomb County businesses. Please carefully read the eligibility and all required documents needed. Incomplete applications will disqualify your application.

Microenterprise Assistance Grant Program


The Microenterprise Assistance Grant Program is funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, will make up to $2 million available to help local businesses impacted by COVID-19.  This program will provide grant funding to qualified microenterprises that have lost revenue or incurred additional costs as a result of COVID-19.   Applications will be accepted beginning September 1 at 9 a.m. through September 30 at 11:59 a.m. Eligibility may vary depending on individual communities. This program does have employee count and income level restrictions.

Workplace Safety 


The Macomb County CARES for Small Business Program will make up to $10 million available to help local small businesses be reimbursed for Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and Technology, in the Workplace Safety Program. Businesses with 500 or less employees may submit PPE and technology receipts/invoices for reimbursement.  

Online Business Connect 


The Macomb County CARES for Small Business Program will make up to $5 million available to help local small businesses get online or enhance their online presence, in the Online Business Connect Program. This program is targeted to customer-facing businesses who can utilize these grant monies to gain flexibility in being able to pivot their business to online due to social distancing restrictions. Application opens September 1, 2020. Work performed must be under contractual obligation through vetted vendors.

 Nonprofit Grant Program (Coming Soon)


The Macomb County CARES for Nonprofits Grant Program will make $1.5 million available to help Macomb County nonprofit and social impact organizations recovering from COVID-19 and the ongoing economic crisis. The application process opens September 29, 2020 and submissions will be reviewed by an independent grant selection committee of local civic leaders.
