LOCAL SUCCESS IN AUTOMOTIVE

Elcometer Inc. - Warren, MI

After 35 years in Rochester Hills, Elcometer Incorporated, a United Kingdom-based supplier, relocated its North American headquarters to Macomb County. The move was a necessity in order to not only accommodate future growth and expansion into new product categories, but also to be located in closer proximity to its major clients. The new facility is within a 15-minute drive of 1,400 of its customers. Elcometer Inc. supplies inspection equipment for the coatings and concrete industries, as well as abrasive blasting and ancillary equipment. The company will enhance its product offerings to include dry abrasive blast machines, precision media valves, blast hoses, blast nozzles, and personal protection equipment. The move to Warren brought 22 employees to a 22,000-squarefoot location. The new facility includes a test and calibration laboratory outfitted with training space for 150 people. It will also host in-house sales, service engineers, technical support, and customer service.

Elcometer Inc. purchased the building for $1 million, and has invested approximately $1 million to update the older infrastructure. This investment was supported by the Macomb County Department of Planning & Economic Development with help to train and recruit employees.
